Huskies Fall To Desert Edge

The Huskies (10-3) lost in the semifinal to the Desert Edge Scorpions on a touchdown with under a minute to go. The offense could not answer, falling short 18-15.

Desert Edge went on to face the Higley Knights in the 5A final and lost 42-21 in a controversial ending.

Prior to the semifinal, Horizon defeated Canyon View and ALA- Gilbert North, while averaging 56 points through the two games.

Recapping A Succesful Year

Despite falling just short of their ultimate goal, the Huskies put together an incredible season and displayed their elite run game.

The team rushed for over 3000 yards and 42 touchdowns, with sophomore running back Bodie Zamorano totaling 1639 yards and 14 touchdowns on the ground.

This dominant run game had opposing defenses exhausted and Horizon will look to continue that playstyle next season.

Horizon’s Outlook For Next Season

All the team can do is build off this loss and work on some of the things they feel were a reason they fell short.

The Huskies and head coach Andy Litten have built a foundation that teams have no choice but to respect. They will undoubtedly continue to compete highly in the 5A bracket and look to win it all next season.
