Shawn Phillips was expected to be a star for the Sun Devils this year, but after a rough start to the season, Bobby Hurley announced that Phillips had sustained a mid-foot injury. He will miss significant time.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Bobby Hurley shared this morning on @Bickley_Marotta that Shawn Phillips Jr. is out with a mid-foot strain and will miss “significant time”. Big frontcourt loss for the Sun Devils. Hopefully, Phillips attacks his rehab the same way Alonzo Gaffney did earlier this month. #ForksUp

Phillips is a 7’0 big man with incredible athleticism. His versatility impressed his veteran teammates and coaches in the offseason, so much so that he was given the starting role to begin the season.
Phillips has averaged 5.7 points and six rebounds for the Sun Devils in the first three games. He had seven points and seven rebounds in the game versus Texas Southern.
Bryant Selebangue and Kamari Lands will split time filling in for Phillips until he returns. We might also see more of Akil Watson. Losing Phillips is rough for ASU as he is their only player over 6’10. It will be hard to make up for that height.
