With tonight’s loss, the Arizona Diamondbacks have cemented a fifth-straight season-series defeat against their NL West rivals, the Los Angeles Dodgers.

From start to finish, the Diamondbacks looked completely outmatched in every aspect of the game.

Even with their #2 man, Merrill Kelly, on the mound, the Dodgers red-hot offense did not skip a beat. By the time Kelly exited after five innings of work, he had allowed seven earned runs on 12 hits. These 12 hits beat his previous career high of 11, given up against the Giants back in August 2021.

In total, the Dodgers had five different players end the night with at least two hits. Combined as a team, they were two short of a season high with 16.

And former Diamondback David Peralta was right in the middle of this train. Peralta got the scoring started for the Dodgers with a double in the first inning. He ended the night going 3/4 at the plate with two RBIs and a run scored.

On the flip side, the Diamondbacks lone run scored came from a Corbin Carroll solo homer in the 5th inning. Arizona’s offense went 0-6 with runners in scoring position.

Clayton Kershaw tossed five innings while allowing just three hits, helping improve the Dodgers record to 22-5 this month.

The Diamondbacks will wrap up this three-game series against the hottest team in baseball tomorrow at 7:10. It will be Brandon Pfaadt taking the mound for Arizona.
