In the Diamondbacks Saturday night win over the Giants, 1B Christian Walker was thrown out by the home plate umpire in a bizarre chain of events.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! At the time, it was a 4-4 ballgame in the bottom of the sixth inning. Nick Ahmed was up to the plate, where he squared around to bunt before pulling back. As usual, the home plate umpire pointed over to the first base umpire, where it was ruled that Ahmed did pull back in time.
In response, nonchalantly, Diamondbacks’ Christian Walker clapped a couple of times from the dugout in support of the fact that the count was now 3-1. The home plate umpire then turned towards Walker and threw him out of the ballgame.
Yes, you read that correctly. Christian Walker was thrown out of the ballpark after agreeing with the umpire.
Christian Walker was ejected for applauding the correct call 😅

Although the Diamondbacks went on to win the game 7-5, the incident was a complete embarrassment for the home plate umpire.
The MLB has not released any official statement, nor has the umpire apologized for the incident. The only explanation points towards a call that Walker argued about during an at-bat an inning prior.
The Diamondbacks will be back in action tonight at 5:10 PM for game three of the four-game series against the Giants. Zac Gallen will be on the mound for the D-backs.
