The Phoenix Suns got blitzed in their first game against the Nuggets as they lost by a final score of 125-107. The game was basically over after Jamal Murray hit a three in transition to give the Nuggets a 112-95 lead with 6:56 seconds remaining in the game.

That would go on to be Murray’s 6th and final three-pointer on the night which was one less than the entire Suns team had all game. After the game, Murray was fired up after a 34-point and 9-assist performance as he had a quote for the ages involving his doubters going into the series.

Murray started off the game hot with 8 points in the first few minutes of the game and it continued for the rest of the night. He was so hot from the floor, that the TNT broadcast team got a quote from Murray after he hit a tough shot on Shamet saying “he can’t guard me”

The takeover for Murray really began in the fourth quarter as the Suns had no answer for his shooting. It, unfortunately, got to the point where Suns head coach Monty Williams had to wave the white flag at the five-minute mark by taking all his starters out.

Murray wasn’t the only performer who did well for the Nuggets as Nikola Jokic dropped 24 points and 19 rebounds to help out and Aaron Gordon dropped 23 points while hitting 3/4 threes to help secure a huge game-one win for the Nuggets.

Head coach Monty Williams sums up game one with a perfect answer of the Nuggets just being outright more physical and playing with more force. It’s definitely now a wake-up call for the Suns going into game 2 on Monday night.
