After trailing 2-0 early on, it was a massive six-run 4th inning that boosted them to a lead, which they were able to keep all the way to the end.

Part of the huge inning was a Nick Ahmed base hit with bases loaded on a pitch in the dirt. The double drove in two runs and improved his season batting average to .316, second best only behind Josh Rojas.

The Diamondbacks had five players with multi-hit nights, including Ketel Marte, Josh Rojas, Lourdes Gurriel Jr., Evan Longoria, and Gabriel Moreno. Arizona finished with 14 hits compared to just four strikeouts.

St. Louis attempted to mount a comeback in the ninth inning with three runs; however, it fell one short of completing the comeback. Andre Chafin had his night cut short after allowing three runs and securing just one out.

Instead, it was Miguel Castro who came in to get the two final outs to secure the win.

The Diamondbacks will have the chance to finish the sweep on Wednesday. Bumgarner will be on the mound at 10:15 AM.
