Major League Baseball will kick off it’s season on March 30th, 2023. As of right now that is three days away, I can smell the grass through this screen just thinking about it. After a dominant second half of the season in 2022, Zac Gallen will be the opening day starter for the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Zac Gallen gets the call, after Madison Bumgarner took the opening day nod the last 3 seasons.

Gallen, who pitched to a record of 12-4 for the D-Backs, while throwing an ERA of 2.54 and finishing 5th in Cy Young voting last season. The Cy Young is an award awarded to the quote unquote best pitcher in the league every season.

Confidence in Zac Gallen

Last season Zac Gallen placed his name on the “elite” list while breaking franchise records for the Diamondbacks. His scoreless streak that lasted 44.1 innings over about a 5 week span.

He took a young D-Back team and put them on his back every time he took the mound last season. His 12-4 record is even more impressive when you really think about the team as a whole last season.

The Diamondbacks struggled to get runners home for most of last season stranding a ton of runners on base. However with Gallen pitching gems, the Diamondbacks were able to secure enough runs to get wins with him on the mound.

Torey Lovullo, his teammates, and the fans of the Arizona Diamondbacks have the up-most confidence in this young 27-year old pitcher to give them a great shot at a victory every time he is on the mound.
