Today at high noon, the Suns will get their first true challenge as they take on their first playoff team with KD on the roster. To add fuel to the fire, this game is on national television and against who some are calling the Suns biggest rivalry right now; the Dallas Mavericks.

Suns vs Mavericks

After Luka and Dallas sent the Suns home last season, it has been rumored that they are Phoenix’s rival. Although this is a new feud between the two teams, one thing is for certain, it is some extra energy when these teams meet.

This will be Kevin Durant’s first game as part of this rivalry, as well as his ex teammate Kyrie Irving. Both Durant and Irving made a decision to go to Brooklyn together and play with the Nets.

Due to injuries and a whole lot of other drama Durant and Kyrie rarely saw the court together in a Nets uniform. However in a blockbuster like trade deadline week, both Irving and Durant were traded days apart.

Irving joined Luka in Dallas, while Durant joined Devin Booker and Chris Paul in Phoenix.

First Real Challenge

After handling business against the Hornets and the Bulls the Suns faithful have been screaming in euphoria. Today we will get a true taste of what this team is capable of.

Luka and the Mavericks always play the Suns tough. It is also very possible these two teams meet in the playoffs again this season.

The Suns are currently a 4 seed and two games above the 6th seeded Mavericks. With the Western Conference as tight as it is, every win or loss can drop or raise teams in the standings.

Nobody would be surprise if the Suns and Mavs meet in the first or second round of the NBA playoffs in a a few months.
