It was a great debut for Mikal Bridges and Cam Johnson as they finished their first Nets game after getting traded a couple of days ago.

The Nets fell short in the fourth quarter as the Brooklyn Nets lost to the Philadelphia 76ers 101-98. Bridges finished the game with 23 points and Cam Johnson finished with 12.

Before the game, Bridges and Johnson met with the press and were asked about the trade that brought Kevin Durant to Phoenix and Bridges seems to understand why his ex-team decided to make that trade even if it meant trading him to Brooklyn.

“I mean it’s KD,” Bridges said regarding the trade. “I get it, I 100% get it. It’s just how it is like I’d rather say I’d rather be happy I got traded for KD than probably like somebody else who I didn’t think would be you know good or something like that so just being a realist at the end of the day.”

Johnson also alluded to the trade understanding the situation for what it is and even joking that he and Mikal used to envision themselves in Brooklyn at some point with all the trade rumors going on.

“Over the summer we had a lift an early morning lift and right after me and Kelly went to breakfast at First Watch and this is when the rumor was really strong so we were talking about New York and living in Brooklyn and so that was in June so we’ve had a lot of time to wrap our mind around the possibility.”

The Twins are now in Brooklyn all settled in and it’s going to take time before everybody in Phoenix is used to this feeling of two fan favorites on another team. As for the Suns, they will be playing with Kevin Durant soon which is crazy to put into words. Once again, Bridges understands the situation.

“You’re getting Kevin Durant bro like maybe I’d make that trade too.”
