Arizona State and Arizona both hold a 6-3 conference record. Both teams had a two game streak going into the games Thursday night. ASU losing the two games prior and Arizona on a 2 game winning streak.

With UCLA taking their second loss in a row also opens the door a little wider for either one of these Arizona teams to take a step up.

With Arizona State losing last night for the third game in a row, they are dropping in the Pac-12 standings and their hope to make the tournament is shrinking.

There are now three teams with 3 losses in the Pac-12 and UCLA with two atop them all.

Arizona State

Three losses in a row hurts any team, especially a team like the Sun Devils who are one of the last four team in the tourney at this point.

With 10 games left in the regular season, there is time for Bobby Hurley and the boys turn this slump around. However it needs to happen fast, losing 3 or 4 more games could be detrimental to this teams chances of going to the tournament this season.

Losing last night to Washington who was 4-6 in conference play coming into the game puts a different light on this ASU team who started off the season hot.

A week ago, ASU and UCLA were playing for a share of first place in the conference. That game marked the start of this three game losing streak and has plummeted ASU to 5th in the conference tied with Oregon.

Arizona

Holding off a Washington State team who battled to the buzzer, even hitting a buzzer beater three to break the hearts of Arizona bettors last night including me. Arizona won the game by 5.

The Wildcats are not tied with USC for third place in the conference sitting at 7-3. Utah is above them at number 2 with an 8-3 record.

The Pac-12 who was supposedly UCLA’s or Arizona’s for the taking is becoming tighter as the middle of the season nears.

With 10 games left still a lot to be determined, as of right now Arizona is considered a number 2 seed in the tournament and do not have much to worry about as far as that goes.

Allowing them to focus on winning in the moment. This season is gearing up to be exciting the last week of February and first week of March as this conference closes out the season and play the Pac-12 Tournament.
