ASU Looks to get Back on Track

Arizona State
Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

Arizona State Basketball, after starting conference play 6-1, have lost 4 straight. Tonight the Sun Devils take on Oregon State at home in Tempe, Arizona. This should be a ‘ get right’ game for ASU, Oregon State is a tough team, however their record sits at 9-13 overall (3-8 conference).

Bad Two Weeks for Arizona State Basketball

Arizona State went from one of the best stories in college hoops and poised to be an 11th seed or higher in the NCAA Tournament to complete disaster.

Currently they are projected to miss the NCAA Tournament, right now sitting as “Next Four Out”. Alongside teams like Ohio State, Seton Hall, and Utah State.

Season Ending Fast

If the Sun Devils lose a few more games to continue this losing streak, the season is ending fast for them. With only 9 games left in the regular season before the Pac-12 Conference Tourney, things need to turn around quickly.

The Pac-12 conference is one of the toughest conferences in college basketball. With the likes of UCLA, Oregon, USC, and Arizona being a powerhouse more times than not.

Arizona State needs to take advantage of games like tonight against teams at the bottom of the conference. If they can do that and garner the strength to take down one or two of the four teams I named above; the NCAA Tournament might come back calling.

They would need to add a strong Pac-12 Tournament performance in there as well. Also, yes, they could make the big tourney by winning the Pac-12 tourney.

However that would probably involve them having to beat 3 out of the 4 teams mentioned above, again not impossible. This Sun Devils team has to talent to compete.
