GLENDALE – In today’s NFL, on-field production is everything, and right now the Arizona Cardinals may have reached the point where simply believing in Marvin Harrison Jr. is no longer enough. ESPN’s Dan Graziano reported Wednesday that executives around the NFL are wondering whether Arizona could explore trading Harrison ahead of the Nov. 10 trade deadline.

Execs around the league are wondering whether the Arizona Cardinals could explore trading WR Marvin Harrison Jr. ahead of the NFL trade deadline, per @DanGrazianoESPN.

That doesn’t mean a trade is imminent. But the fact that league executives are even asking the question illustrates how dramatically Harrison’s value has changed. The Cardinals selected Harrison No. 4 overall in 2024 after Ohio State seasons in which he was viewed as a game-changing WR. His rookie season was respectable with 62 catches, 885 yards, and eight touchdowns, but it fell short of the WR1 expectations attached to a top-four pick.

Would the Cardinals ever trade Marvin Harrison Jr.?
Now the problem has become much harder to ignore, as through two games this season, Harrison Jr. has only one reception. Arizona should therefore at least explore what his trade market looks like. The argument isn’t that Harrison has no talent; it’s that the Cardinals have to separate the player they have from the prospect they drafted. Another team could still view him as a former elite prospect whose environment has prevented his potential from being realized, and that perception could give Arizona an opportunity.

Harrison is also approaching an important contractual crossroads. His rookie deal is four years with a fifth-year option, meaning the Cardinals eventually have to decide how much confidence they have in paying him beyond his rookie contract. If Arizona doesn’t believe Harrison will become a true No. 1 receiver, waiting could make the decision more difficult. For Cardinals fans, that’s the uncomfortable question: Is Harrison still part of the solution, or is his greatest value to Arizona now what another team is willing to give up for him? Arizona doesn’t have to trade him, but it would be difficult to justify not listening.
