Arenado exited in the bottom of the seventh inning after experiencing right groin tightness. Infielder Jose Fernandez started at third base in his place.

Manager Torey Lovullo said Arenado is considered day to day, according to Arizona Sports. Arenado said he did not feel a pull while rounding the bases from first to home but began experiencing tightness during the game.

While he is not expected to miss significant time, the injury comes at an inopportune moment for the All-Star. After a slow start to the season, Arenado entered the series showing improved plate discipline and harder contact over the past several weeks. He is batting .271 with 27 RBIs and an .810 OPS.

Arenado went 1-for-2 with a walk and a run scored in Tuesday’s game.

Even if the injury proves minor, it is something for Arizona to monitor closely moving forward. Groin injuries can linger, especially for infielders who rely heavily on lateral movement and quick reactions defensively.

The Diamondbacks have also leaned on Arenado’s bat in the middle of the lineup as he has started to regain form offensively, making any missed time notable, with another road series looming before heading back home to face the Los Angeles Dodgers.
