Cardinals QB Kyler Murray held out of practice due to foot injury suffered in Week 5

Syndication: Arizona Republic

GLENDALE – More bad news on the injury front for the Arizona Cardinals. Quarterback Kyler Murray was held out of Wednesday’s practice, as he is dealing with a foot injury suffered in the third quarter of Week 5. The incident happened on the first offensive drive of the second half, when the ball bounced off the faced for Murray and the two-time Pro Bowler leaped after the ball. The 28-year-old wasn’t able to recover the fumble and got up in some discomfort.

Murray was forced by the medical staff to go to the blue tent and head towards the locker room, even when he clearly was against the idea. He would only miss two offensive plays and return on the third down of the following offensive drive. After exiting the game, Murray’s game took a shift back from how he started the game and how he finished, which didn’t help stop the Tennessee Titans comeback.

Murray held out of Wednesday’s practice:

After returning from his ACL tear in 2023, Murray hasn’t missed a single game. His rehab process was strong and has lead him to return better and healthier than ever. That would prove true as the Cardinals quarterback scored his first rushing touchdown last Sunday since December 2024.

Holding Murray out of practice could be a precaution, as head coach Jonathan Gannon called him day-by-day for Week 6 against the Indianapolis Colts. If Arizona is without its starting quarterback, Gannon will have to rely on veteran backup Jacoby Brissett.
