GLENDALE – Age is just a number, but even at 39 years old, the Arizona Cardinals didn’t know what they were getting from Calais Campbell on the defensive front. After a solid debut in Week 1, Campbell used the energy in the home opener this week to explode for a two sacks performance, including on the final offensive play for the Carolina Panthers to secure the 27-22 win.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! The play was nearly a disaster as Campbell detailed how him and linebacker Zaven Collins nearly took each other out of the play, but both were able to stay upright and eventually record the game-winning sack.

Arizona Cardinals defensive lineman Calais Campbell (93) is introduced before their game against the Carolina Panthers at State Farm Stadium on Sept 14, 2025.
Campbell on the sack that gave Cardinals the win:
“Well, it was fourth-down, so you know [Young] was going to hold the ball. My mindset was just stay alive, don’t do anything that is going to get me clamped and can’t finished the rush.
“It’s kind of funny, Zaven [Collins] was thinking power, and I was thinking more up field tried to get a jump off the ball and we almost collided. But, he was able to stay up and I was able stay up and keep my hands up to the tackle…It wasn’t planned but it was just something that happened, but it feels good to be rushing with these guys.

Campbell discussed coming out of the tunnel for pregame introduction and how he almost took himself out of the game by trying to do the same celebration as he did when he was originally with Arizona. The 17-year veteran is no longer the young, athletic bull that he once one, but still doesn’t mean he can’t still get to the quarterback.
