PHOENIX – One year ago today, Devin Booker’s name became etched a little deeper into basketball history. On August 10th 2024, the Phoenix Suns star donned the red, white, and blue for Team USA at the Paris Olympics and delivered a performance that perfectly balanced getting the hard work done while mixing in efficiency and poise. Booker’s “I’ll do it” mindset, as he famously said before the Olympics, became a rallying point for the roster.

Known for his sharpshooting abilities and competitive edge, Devin Booker took on a role that required both scoring and playmaking. Across the tournament, he averaged 11.7 points per game while shooting a blistering 56.8% from the field and an equally impressive 56.5% from beyond the arc. His ability to stretch defenses and punish opponents for leaving him open made him one of Team USA’s most reliable offensive threats. In the gold medal game, Booker scored 15 points while shooting 6-for-9 and added in six rebounds and three assists.

But his impact went beyond the box score. Booker’s unselfish play led to 3.3 assists per game, and his court vision often created scoring opportunities for teammates in crucial moments. His +78 plus/minus over the tournament showed the fact that when Booker was on the floor, Team USA was firmly in control.

Perhaps the defining quality of Booker’s Olympic run was his willingness to adapt. Rather than chase high-volume scoring nights, he focused on making winning plays, hitting timely shots, defending with focus, and bringing composure to the team during tense stretches. Booker has always wanted the stars around the NBA to come to Phoenix to play with him, and was able to do so after gaining trust with his performance on one of the biggest stages.

When the final buzzer sounded and Team USA secured the gold medal, Booker had once again proven that his game translates to the biggest stages. A year later, his Paris performance still stands as a testament to his skill and team-first approach, a golden moment that continues to resonate with Suns fans and inspire the next generation of players.
