What is Geraldo Perdomo’s injury status?
The speculation ended when manager Torey Lovullo confirmed Perdomo received a cortisone injection in his hand over the All-Star break. More importantly, Lovullo made it clear the Diamondbacks expect their starting shortstop to remain in the lineup when the season resumes. That reassurance matters because Perdomo’s value extends far beyond the box score. D-backs Manager Torey Lovullo also jokingly brought up that Perdomo broke “The Archie Bradley Rule,” which has to do with players posting on social media.

Elite shortstops influence nearly every inning. They organize the infield, turn double plays, position teammates, and provide consistency at one of baseball’s most physically demanding positions. Add in Arizona’s reliance on Perdomo alongside Ketel Marte, and the importance of keeping both healthy becomes obvious. For Diamondbacks fans, the wrapped hand served as a reminder that even minor injuries become magnified this time of year. Every swing, every throw, and every inning carries greater weight as the margin for error shrinks.

If Perdomo continues playing without limitation, the story won’t be about a cortisone injection. It will be about resilience. For Arizona, that’s the outcome that matters most, not because one hand determines a season, but because dependable players like Perdomo quietly determine how far one can go.
