When Devin Booker steps back on the floor tonight against the Sacramento Kings, it won’t just be a lineup change for the Phoenix Suns. It will be a massive rejuvenation for their entire offense. Booker’s right hip injury, which he suffered in his first game back after the NBA all-Star break against the San Antonio Spurs, has sidelined him ever since. It removed Phoenix’s tempo-setter, the guard who dictates pace in the half-court and punishes defensive overreactions. In the two weeks he missed, the Suns’ offensive rating slid, their assist numbers flattened, and late-game possessions became isolation-heavy and predictable.

With Booker’s return, the Suns can now bend coverage. Defenses shade early help toward him, opening weak-side windows that don’t show up in the box score. His gravity manufactures rhythm shots for teammates and simplifies reads for secondary creators, which is especially crucial with the roster still navigating an injury to Dillon Brooks.

There’s psychology at play, too. Booker stabilizes emotion. His footwork in the midrange slows the game to a playoff cadence, even in March. That matters in a Western Conference where margins are thin and confidence swings fast. For fans, this isn’t about one night’s scoring line. It’s about offensive coherence. After brutal losses to the Spurs, Trail Blazers, and Celtics, there is now some momentum building after a game-winning three from Royce O’Neale and the return of Devin Booker. If the Suns look in sync on Tuesday night, Booker will be a big reason why.
