Durant played for the Thunder for nine seasons and won the NBA MVP Award during the 2013-2014 season with the team. He eventually moved on from Oklahoma City, but hasn’t forgotten the first time he returned after signing with another team.

In an interview with The Wall Street Journal’s J.R. Moehringer in 2019, Durent expressed an uncomfortable welcome back he received as a visitor.

“Such a venomous, toxic feeling when I walked into that arena,” he said. “And just the organization… I’ll never be attached to that city again because of that.”

The former Suns guard had a similar back-and-forth with Phoenix Suns fans after he was traded to the Houston Rockets on July 6.

Durant staying true to his feelings continues to leave lasting impacts, no matter where he plays.
