It was a rout in the fifth inning for the Snakes on Sunday afternoon, as the D-Backs were able to bat around and put up eight runs against the Colorado Rockies. Not only were they able to make their mark, this was the first time in franchise history that the Diamondbacks had nine hits while having two outs.

The Diamondbacks were able to get it started by getting bases loaded for Alek Thomas. Thomas was able to reach first base on an infield single and scored Lourdes Gurriel Jr. after a throwing error from Rockies first baseman Warming Bernabel. The dominoes started to fall shortly after, as Arizona took advantage of the opportunity.

James McCann kept the rally going as he hit a single to right field to score Adrian Del Castillo and Tyler Locklear. Blaze Alexander followed his lead and hit a single to center to bring in Alek Thomas as well.

Corbin Carroll and Ketel Marte kept up the momentum as they continue to strike to perform like one of the best duos in baseball. Carroll singled to center to score James McCann, and right after  Marte doubled to left to score Blaze Alexander. Arizona kept its foot on the gas pedal and played aggressively, including sending Corbin Carroll around third to score at a close play at home plate on Marte’s double.

It ended with Geraldo Perdomo hitting a single of his own to right field to score Marte, in one of the most exciting innings of D-Backs baseball yet this season. It has been a season full of ups-and-downs for this Arizona ball club, though momentum from breaking a franchise record is surely going to bring some energy back into this lineup.
