PHOENIX – The Phoenix Suns have filled out their second two-way slot with the newest signing of wing Isaiah Livers, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania. Livers was drafted 42nd overall in the 2021 NBA draft and played the following three seasons with the Detroit Pistons. The former Michigan Wolverine played 94 games in the Motor city and averaged 6.2 points and 2.6 rebounds on 35.8% from the 3-point line. He went unsigned after the 2024 season and didn’t play last year but gets an opportunity to prove himself with the Suns.

What Livers can bring to Suns:

Livers is 6’7 and 230 pounds. He has a great frame, and during his rookie season, shot 42.2% from beyond the arc on 3.4 attempts. However, since then, he has drastically gotten worse from the 3-point line, shooting 28.6% in the 2023-2024 season. Livers couldn’t find his footing in his final season with Pistons, having a career low in points, rebounds and field goal percentage.

The 26-year-old still has plenty of time to turn his career around in Phoenix. Livers will have a second shot in the NBA, and the franchise hopes that the hunger from him improves his play from his last season with Detroit. Even if the shot doesn’t return to his rookie-year level, Livers can earn a spot on the roster with defensive intensity, as his length makes him a valuable option if need be next season.
