It’ll be the first meeting between the Diamondbacks and White Sox this season. The bats will look to come alive as they went quiet for Arizona on Sunday at Coors Field. The D-Backs didn’t have superstars Corbin Carroll and Ketel Marte in the lineup, and their absence was felt as the D-Backs were only able to get two runs in against the lowly Rockies.

Monday’s mound matchups:

Arizona will be relying on Eduardo Rodriguez to get the job done on Monday. E-Rod has a 2-4 record and a 5.93 ERA so far. Rodriguez only lasted 4.2 innings though only allowed one earned run on six hits against the Blue Jays. He hasn’t allowed more than two earned runs in his last three outings, and if he can replicate that in Chicago, the Snakes will have a good chance to take the series opener.

Shane Smith will be getting the start for the White Sox. Smith’s 3-4 record and 2.85 ERA shows that he can keep his club in contention. Although in his last outing, Smith gave up five earned runs on six hits in only 4.1 innings pitched against the St. Louis Cardinals.

If the D-Backs can get back to form at the plate, they shouldn’t have too much trouble navigating this White Sox ball club. In 2025, the White Sox are the American League’s worst with a 25-53 record. Chicago is coming off of winning a weekend series though in Toronto against the Blue Jays, so Arizona must lock in to make sure they come away with another series win. Ketel Marte will also be returning to this D-Backs lineup to help give them a burst of energy. The first pitch at Rate Field on Monday is at 4:40 p.m. PT.
