Corbin Burnes got his first win of the 2025 season and his first as a member of the Arizona Diamondbacks as he pitched six innings and only gave up one earned run on four hits. Burnes was visibly upset with some of the calls at home plate, but persevered through it all and put on a performance that Arizona had been waiting to see. Burnes only really had one mistake on the day as he gave up a solo shot home run to Mark Vientos in the bottom of the third inning.

It was a slow, but tense matchup today. Geraldo Perdomo was one of the heroes of the night as he hit a two-run single in the seventh inning that gave the Diamondbacks the 2-1 lead.

The ninth inning was something out of a movie on Wednesday night. Jorge Barrosa started it off with a sacrifice fly that scored Moreno and brought pinch runner Alek Thomas to third base. Geraldo Perdomo did the same and scored Thomas making it a 4-1 ball game in the top of the ninth inning.

Justin Martinez entered for the D-backs and was on a short leash after he gave up a solo shot home run to Tyrone Taylor. He was pulled early after giving up two earned runs as Ryan Thompson came in and closed out the victory for the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Arizona can now breathe a sigh of relief after a close matchup against a talented ball club. The D-Backs will look to take the series against the New York Mets tomorrow on Thursday. It will be an early matchup as the first pitch is at 10:10 a.m. MST at Citi Field.
