AUGUSTA –Nature calls regardless of the situation. Many pause their work to quickly handle their business before returning without anyone noticing. However, for Arizona State golfer Jose Luis Ballester, nature called at his work, which was The Masters in Augusta. The ASU senior needed to relieve himself, but he was stuck at the 13th hole with no bathrooms in sight. After his group teammate, Justin Thomas had trouble in the green, Ballester took the opportunity to run off into cover.

ASU Ballester on his bathroom decision:
“I completely forgot that we had those restrooms to the left of the [13th] tee box,” Ballester said. “I’m like, ‘I really need to pee.’ Didn’t really know where to go. Since [Thomas] had an issue on the green, I’m like, ‘I’m just going to sneak here in the river and probably people would not see me that much.’”

Ballester wasn’t embarrassed by being caught or his decision, pointing out that the claps he got during his bathroom break were the loudest he got all day, and seeing how he finished Round 1 a +4 and tied for 73rd, he likely wasn’t lying. The Sun Devil said he would do it again if he had to, which Augusta National likely wouldn’t want to happen.
