PHOENIX— With the NFL Draft approaching, the Arizona Cardinals are looking to make their next big move toward building a championship-contending team. Over the years, the franchise has had some pivotal draft selections that shaped its success. From Hall of Famers to defensive stalwarts, the Cardinals’ draft history is filled with memorable picks that helped define the team. Here are five of the top draft picks in franchise history.

1. Larry Fitzgerald (2004, 1st Round, 3rd Overall)
Widely regarded as one of the best wide receivers in NFL history, Larry Fitzgerald is the Cardinals’ most iconic draft pick. Fitzgerald, a standout at the University of Pittsburgh, immediately became a cornerstone of the franchise. Over his 17-season career, he totaled 1,432 receptions, 17,492 yards, and 121 touchdowns, all franchise records. His consistency, leadership, and incredible hands made him a fan favorite and a key contributor to the team’s success, including their appearance in Super Bowl XLIII.

2. Patrick Peterson (2011, 1st Round, 5th Overall)
Selected fifth overall in 2011, cornerback Patrick Peterson quickly became one of the league’s premier defensive players. Peterson made an immediate impact with a standout rookie season, earning a spot in the Pro Bowl and leading the league in punt return touchdowns. Known for his shutdown coverage and playmaking ability, Peterson is a multi-time Pro Bowler and a key figure in the Cardinals’ defense over the past decade.

3. Calais Campbell (2008, 2nd Round, 50th Overall)
A dominant force on the defensive line, Calais Campbell was drafted in the second round of the 2008 draft and became one of the most consistent defensive players in franchise history. Known for his size, strength, and versatility, Campbell earned multiple Pro Bowl selections and was a key contributor to the team’s defense for over a decade. He helped solidify the Cardinals’ defensive line and was a key part of their playoff runs in the 2010s.

4. Anquan Boldin (2003, 2nd Round, 54th Overall)
Anquan Boldin made an immediate impact after being selected in the second round of the 2003 draft. The wide receiver brought toughness and reliability to the Cardinals’ passing game. Boldin quickly became one of the top receivers in the NFL, helping lead the team to Super Bowl XLIII and finishing with over 1,000 career receptions. His physical play and ability to make clutch catches in big moments made him one of the franchise’s all-time greats.

5. Adrian Wilson (2001, 3rd Round, 64th Overall)
A dynamic safety and one of the most feared defenders of his time, Adrian Wilson was selected in the third round of the 2001 draft. Over his 12 seasons with the team, Wilson earned five Pro Bowl selections and was known for his hard-hitting style and ability to create turnovers. His leadership and playmaking ability helped anchor the Cardinals’ defense for years, and he remains one of the franchise’s all-time greats.

Honorable Mention: Karlos Dansby (2004, 2nd Round, 33rd Overall)
While not quite on the top five list, Karlos Dansby deserves recognition for his contributions to the Cardinals. As a linebacker drafted in 2004, he played an integral role in Arizona’s defense during his time with the team, earning a Pro Bowl selection and helping guide the team to Super Bowl XLIII. His versatility and leadership make him a key piece of the franchise’s history.
