The Remix stayed close with Stockton’s hot start, but the Suns guard continued to apply the pressure. Stockton leads a 15-0 run near the end of the second quarter to grab the Suns’ largest lead at 17. Rip City couldn’t match the fast-paced offense of Stockton’s playmaking and gravity, leading the Suns to dominate.
Despite the strong end to the first half, Rip City guard Craig Randall exploded after halftime with 14 third-quarter points to bring the double-digit deficit to a single possession. The Valley Suns were reeling entering the fourth and needed its veteran guard to keep them above water.
The 33-year-old used his experience to keep his team calm and play smart with his playmaking. Stockton was decisive with the ball, finding Jaden Schakelford on back-to-back layups to blow the game open late. For the dagger, Stockton found Mamadi Diakite, who finished the game with a double-double, for a 6-foot hook shot to extend the lead to seven and eventually give the Suns the 114-110 win.
