Bronny James put together a well rounded performance with 24 points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds. Sir’Jabari Rice led the Lakers in scoring with 27 points in just 22 minutes off the bench.
Despite a second half push to tie the game at 90 points each, the Valley Suns were unable to find consistency on the offensive end of the floor to finish the game as the Lakers pulled ahead in the fourth quarter. It was a poor night offensively for the Valley Suns, shooting just 38.7% from the field and 20.5% from three.
The loss moves the Valley Suns to fifth place in the Western Conference at 12-10, just behind the Salt Lake City Stars who sit at 11-9. The Valley Suns are also just ahead of three teams in the standing, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, Rip City Remix, and Mexico City Capitanes.
The Valley Suns play the Remix on Tuesday, Feb. 25 in a pivotal game for playoff seeding. The G-league playoffs include the top six teams in each conference, meaning the Valley Suns will need to maintain their half game lead over the Vipers, Remix, and Capitanes to remain in the playoff field.
