In the midst of a four-game losing streak, Phoenix Suns coach Mike Budenholzer decided a change was needed ahead of their Saturday matchup against the Chicago Bulls and move point guard Tyus Jones to the bench and inserted Bradley Beal into the starting lineup.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! The move comes as Phoenix dopped to 26-29 on the season after a catastrophic loss to the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday. The loss moved them two games behind the final play-in spot and just one game ahead of the Spurs for the No. 11 seed in the Western Conference.
Ahead of their game against the Bulls, the Suns sit 1.5 games behind the Sacramento Kings for the 10th seed and 1.5 games ahead of the Spurs.
“We’re always looking at different combinations,” Budenholzer said pregame. “Brad has been playing that backup point guard role and Brad and Devin together and even Grayson (Allen). We feel like all those guys can handle it.
“We’re always looking at it, always trying to figure out how we can be our best and appreciate what Devin can do handling it, what Brad can do handling it. What Tyus brings to us. We’re always looking at everything.”
Beal will start alongside Devin Booker, Royce O’Neale, Kevin Durant and Nick Richards.
