‘Heartbroken, but so proud’: ASU fans react to double-OT Peach Bowl loss

Heartbreak and pride — the two overwhelming feelings of Arizona State football fans after a thrilling double-overtime loss to Texas in the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl.

ASU was not supposed to be here. Starting the season projected to be the worst team in the Big 12 conference, no one thought that ASU would be vying for a spot in the College Football Playoffs, much less playing in a quarterfinal game.

Through everything that Sun Devils players and fans have overcome this season, the feeling of a loss to the Longhorns is bittersweet. Because, again, the Sun Devils weren’t supposed to be playing in that game. Even if they were, being a few plays away from a CFP semifinals appearance was even more far-fetched.

Fans took to social media to share not only their heartbreak for the heartbreak for their loss — or their anger for a controversial targeting no-call — but also their appreciation for being able to be a part of this miraculous ASU season.
