Luciano was one of the rare picks that analysts disapproved of from the Diamondbacks’ draft. The catcher was ranked No. 225 on the board. Scouting director Ian Rebhan noted on MLB Network, “We see him as someone who can catch and throw effectively. You’re getting an offensive catcher who’s 17 years old and also provides value behind the plate. He checked a lot of boxes as a proven hitter advanced for his age, showing consistent contact skills against high-level competition.”
The Diamondbacks also reached an agreement with high school shortstop Tytus Cissell, their fourth-round pick, for $800,000, as reported by Jim Callis of MLB Pipeline. The slot value for this pick was $535,800.

Cissell was initially committed to play college baseball at the University of Missouri, but after being drafted, he forewent his commitment and became the first player the Diamondbacks drafted in 2024 to sign with the team. Cissell was ranked as the No. 234 overall prospect on MLB Pipeline’s list.
Then, according to Jim Callis at MLB.com, the D-backs signed 11th-rounder Bo Walker, a high school outfielder originally committed to play at Georgia Tech. Walker signed a $500,000 deal.
