Davies, who hails from Arizona and attended Mesquite High School, was released by the Diamondbacks towards the end of last season.

Prior to his release, Davies endured a challenging season, posting a historically high 7.00 ERA along with a WHIP of 1.664, marking career highs.

In his final four starts of the season, he allowed 15 earned runs in 14 innings. Remarkably, the Diamondbacks emerged victorious in each of these games.

Before his stint with Arizona, Davies spent five years with the Brewers, one with the Cubs, and one with the Padres. His standout season came in 2017 with the Brewers, leading the MLB with 33 starts and tallying 17 wins.

Last season, the Nationals ranked 4th-worst in team ERA in the league, with a 5.02 mark. Additionally, no team surrendered more home runs than the Nationals.
