In his first public appearance since signing with the Diamondbacks a few days ago, Joc Pederson spoke on a number of topics, spanning from the weather in Arizona to what was so special about the D-Backs recent postseason run.

Pederson, who has now played with five different teams over the last five seasons, mentioned that he is not quite sure if he is totally prepared for the blazing desert heat. After mentioning that his new home is currently under construction in Phoenix, Pederson noted, “A lot of people say it’s really cool to be able to be at home and stay at home. The weather was kind of a factor. Not going to lie, it’s going to be interesting 120-degree summers.”

From beautiful 80-degree summers in LA to 120-degree summers in Phoenix, Pederson has plenty of adjustments to make.

On a more serious note, the two-time World Series champion gave his thoughts on the Diamondbacks 2023 run to the World Series. Making sure to go along with the D-backs catch phrase, Pederson stated, “Some handle chaos better than others.”

Additionally, he took note of the Dodgers recent offseason splurge. While admitting that he respects the talented roster that they have created, Pederson made sure to emphasize that the games still need to be played. “That’s why you play the games. Patrick Mahomes was as an underdog last week, and he came back and smoked the Baltimore Ravens, which nobody really saw coming.”

Pederson played seven seasons with the Dodgers; during this time, he was named an All-Star once and won the World Series with them in 2020.

The contract that Pederson signed with the Diamondbacks is a 1-year, $9.5 million deal. The D-backs have already broken a franchise record in terms of payroll this offseason.
