In the crucible of NFL scrutiny, it can be said that no head coach faced extensive criticism quite like Jonathan Gannon did in the lead-up to this season.

After the Eagles fell to the Chiefs in the Super Bowl, much of the blame was placed on Gannon. The storm intensified when he swiftly assumed the helm of the Cardinals just a week after the Eagles’ playoff exit.

But in a twist of fate, Gannon had the last laugh—at least for now.

With the Eagles needing a win to stay in the run for the #1 seed in the NFC, Gannon marched the Cardinals into their best offensive games of the season. Adding a layer of irony, the Eagles‘ defense, formerly under Gannon’s command, faltered, allowing Arizona to notch up a season-high 35 points.

Discounting a pick-six near the red zone by Kyler Murray in the 2nd quarter, the Cardinals’ offensive performance bordered perfection.

As the dust settles, the Eagles find themselves likely settling for the 2nd spot in the NFC East unless the Commanders can topple the Cowboys next week. At one point, Philly held a 10-1 record and looked unbeatable.
