The Phoenix Suns big-three debut was spoiled by the Brooklyn Nets, as they suffered a 116-112 loss in front of the home crowd.

For the majority of the night, besides a quick period in the 3rd quarter where it looked for a second like they would pull away with a win, the Suns trailed due to some costly turnovers and bad defensive possessions.

Even as the Suns big three were shooting the ball lights out, the Nets seemed to have a quick answer for any attempt by Phoenix to pull away with momentum.

The ultimate dagger came with 2 minutes left and the Suns trailing by just three points.

After Kevin Durant missed a three-point attempt that would have tied the game, the Nets scored five quick points to pull away with an 8-point lead that proved to be enough for a win.

Devin Booker led Phoenix in scoring with 34 points; the Suns also held a +18 advantage while their starting point guard was on the court.

Behind Booker was KD with 27, Jusuf Nurkic with 15, and then Bradley Beal with 14 on 6-9 shooting.

Unfortunately, none of this was enough, as the Suns bench proved to be killer.

Without Grayson Allen and Eric Gordon, Phoenix’s depth was put on full display, with their bench contributing just 14 points.

On the Nets side, it was former Suns twins Cam Johnson and Mikal Bridges leading them to a win, finishing as the only two Brooklyn players with over 20 points.

Next up for the Suns is a meeting with the New York Knicks on Friday night, once again inside the Footprint Center.
