During his time with the Warriors, Durant won two championships and was beloved by fans, who have been awaiting his return since his departure. Durant did play in Golden State in 2021, but it was during the pandemic in front of no fans.

Before tonight’s season opener, the Warriors played a tribute video they had previously aired during this pandemic game. Durant got a loud ovation from the fans during the tribute.

“I’m excited to get back in front of the people I call family there in that organization and fans that I went as hard as I could for for three years there, so it should be fun,” Durant said Sunday before the game.
