NLCS Game 1: The Top 2 Aces

Zach Wheeler and Zac Gallen have been two of the best pitchers in the NL this season. Both will receive serious Cy Young voting and face each other in game 1 of the NLCS. Let’s take a look at their seasons.

Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!

Zac Gallen finished the season with a 3.47 ERA, 220 strikeouts, and 210 innings pitched. So far in the playoffs, he’s only given up two earned runs each game and has gone at least five innings.

He’s only faced the Phillies once this season and gave up two runs in 5.2 innings pitched. That game ended up being a no-decision for him.

Zach Wheeler has been a different breed in the playoffs. In only eight playoff starts, he has a 2.49 ERA, averaging 9.5 strikeouts per nine innings. The only game he really struggled in was game one vs the Astros in the World Series. Compare that to his regular season, where he finished with a 3.61 ERA and 212 strikeouts in 192 innings. You can tell he knows how to play in October.

In his two games versus the Diamondbacks this year, he allowed four runs in 12 innings pitched. He won one game and lost the other. But, regular season Wheeler is very different from Citizens Bank Park in October Wheeler.

The crowd will be rocking, and it will be up to Gallen to tune out everything and just pitch.

What happened in the Phillies and D-backs Seven regular season games?
