Follow The Dolphin: How The Cardinals Can Build an Unstoppable Offense

The Arizona Cardinals are currently (0-2) with the NFL world expecting them to finish the season with one of the worst records in the league. How can the Cardinals go from the bottom of the barrow to the top of the heap? Is there a way to do this in a timely fashion? The Miami Dolphins have created a team that looks like it may be one of the best in the NFL.

The Dolphins are (2-0) with one of the best offenses in the NFL. They are led by the fifth overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft Tua Tagovailoa. Tagovailoa has a plethora of weapons in the skill positions. The number one wide receiver is Tyreek Hill, who was acquired via trade. Miami traded five draft picks to the Kansas City Chiefs for Hill. Hill has been well worth it. Last season, Hill finished the year with 119 receptions, 1,710 yards, and seven touchdowns. So far this season, Hill has 255 yards and 3 touchdowns in the first two games.

The number two wide receiver is Jaylen Waddle. Waddle was the sixth overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. He eclipsed 1,000 receiving yards in first two seasons.  Last season, the former Alabama wide out had 1,356 yards on 75 receptions with eight touchdowns. Waddle also averaged 18.1 yards per catch which led the NFL.

The quarterback and wide receivers are not able to put up these numbers without the right offensive scheme. Which has been provided by their head coach Mike McDaniel. They also need a good offensive line. So far this season, Tagovailoa has only been pressured on 9.1% of his drop backs. This is second best behind Jimmy Garoppolo for the Las Vegas Raiders. The offensive line was smartly built with a combination of home grown talent and free agents. This may be the most important part of the puzzle that has made this offense a juggernaut.

Can the Cardinals duplicate the success of the Dolphins offense?

The Cardinals have a chance to duplicate what the Miami Dolphins have done with the assets they have. The Cardinals have two picks in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. These picks have a high chance of being great picks. Their own pick may be top five and the pick that was acquired from the Houston Texans may also be top five. Both the Texans and Cardinals are winless and expected to end the year with records among the worst in the NFL.

Arizona can use one of those picks on their version of Jaylen Waddle. They could select Ohio State’s Marvin Harrison Jr. Last season Harrison had 77 receptions for 1,263 yards and 14 touchdowns. He is projected to be a great wide receiver in the league. The Cardinals are set to have more than 66 million dollars in cap space next season. This will allow them to go after a veteran proven receiver like Mike Evans from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

They will also have enough money to go after the best available free agent offensive lineman next season. To put their quarterback in the best situation to succeed.

They have options at the quarterback position. They can use one of their picks to draft the top college quarterback or they can take the best offensive lineman.

This offense can be one of the best in the NFL in the next few seasons by following the Dolphins format.
