After the Commanders struck first in the 1st quarter due to three penalties that resulted in 67 total yards, Arizona’s defense locked in big time.

On the drive following this touchdown, Zaven Collins picked off Sam Howell, which began a string of turnovers.

Next up would be a fumble forced inside the Commanders red zone. Zaven Collins was right there to scoop up the football.

Then, with 34 seconds remaining in the 2nd quarter, Dennis Gardeck sacked Commanders’ QB Sam Howell. Cam Thomas recovered the fumble and took it straight into the end zone to give the Cardinals their first lead.

Besides this touchdown, it was Matt Prater who connected on two field goals, which provided the Cardinals with their other points.

In total, offensively, the Cardinals recorded just five first downs, compared to 16 by the Commanders.

The Cardinals will get the ball to start the second half.
