BREAKING: Jaden Rashada named starting QB for ASU’s season opener

With only a week of meaningful first-team reps, the quarterback impressed enough to beat out two established Power 5 starters, Trenton Bourguet and Drew Pyne.

Breakdown and analysis of Jaden Rashada being named ASU’s Week 1 starter

Rashada has already seen his name appear on some preseason lists. Coming out of high school, he was No. 31 overall prospect in the ESPN 300, which is the second-highest of any Sun Devil signee since the service began in 2007.

Hours before the news broke, he was named a preseason true freshman All-American by On3.

The day before, he was named the No. 2 best overall true freshman by College Football Blue Bloods.

As for the future of the ASU football team, College Football Blue Bloods rated the Sun Devils as the No. 2 school for college football’s highest potential in a list released yesterday.

A lot factors into this, including new coach Kenny Dillingham, but also Rashada being the team’s future quarterback.

We will see how the ultra-talented Rashada does when he steps onto the field against Southern Utah and if he can keep his QB1 job. As for now, the praise will come in, but nothing means more to him than getting the starting nod.
