© John Hefti-USA TODAY Sports

With the Division being out of reach, the Diamondbacks find themselves within distance to earn a wildcard spot. With just 2.5 games out of the wildcard, it really can be anyone’s game.

The Diamondbacks are lucky enough to face two of the three teams in front of them, for a wildcard spot twice in the remainder of the season. The team will face off with the Cincinnati Reds who are currently half a game above them. While also having two series against the Chicago Cubs in the month of September, which will both be must win series.

That being said, the squad has to find a way to get back to playing their best baseball again and finish just as hot as they started.

Arizona Diamondback fans should be feeling pretty good with the spot the team is in now though. With a successful rebuild, the Diamondbacks find themselves with young stars in Zac Gallen to build a rotation around. Additionally, Corbin Carrol who is another great piece is already an all-star and regarded as one of the top center fielders in the game defensively and offensively.

Success this year is obviously huge for morale in the clubhouse and in the stands. Although the momentum these young stars can carry into next season is the real big win here.

The Diamondbacks are in a great spot right now to play October baseball. If they can’t find a way to get out of this slump, the five-year drought from the playoffs may continue.
