Ahead of their three-game series against the Rockies starting on Monday, the Arizona Diamondbacks have recalled Kyle Lewis in exchange for sending Jake McCarthy down to Triple-A Reno.

This will be Kyle’s third stint with the Diamondbacks this season. The 28-year-old was previously up in the majors during early July.

Unfortunately, ever since his Rookie of the Year season in 2020, Lewis has not been the same hitter. Over 11 games this year, Lewis has managed a 6-for-33 batting record (.182), and in 18 games last year, he went 8-for-56 (.143) at the plate

Meanwhile, in contrast to his challenges in the majors, Kyle Lewis has proven to be a challenge for opposing pitchers while playing in Triple-A.

Including a game-tying hit from yesterday, Lewis boasts an impressive .360 batting average and has smacked 14 home runs with the Reno Aces.

Lewis will step in to replace Jake McCarthy in the outfield, as McCarthy had been struggling with a 1-for-14 slump. McCarthy’s last assignment to Triple-A was back in May.

The first pitch for the Diamondbacks’ game against the Rockies is scheduled for 5:10 PM. Merrill Kelly will be on the mound, aiming to extend the Diamondbacks’ winning streak to three games.
