The Arizona Diamondbacks start off the second week of May, with ace Zac Gallen on the mound. Already on the month the D-Backs won two series and pushed 1-1 against the Rangers in between those winning series.

The Miami Marlins are up next against Arizona, who stay home for the series. The rest of May looks to be against teams with under .500 records. A chance for the Diamondbacks to add some wins in the win column.

After the Marlins

After the Marlins, who are 17-18, three game series the D-Backs will take on the 15-18 Giants.

San Francisco always plays Arizona tough, as all division foes do in the mighty NL West. This season however, the D-Backs seem to have a better team on paper.

Of course anything can happen once the players lace up the cleats and take the field. The ball sometimes finds grass, yet most of the time it finds leather.

Through the first 7 days of the month of May the Diamondbacks have not lost a series in the three that they played. Arizona also had two off days last week and have stayed in Arizona since Thursday.

Just keep winning series, that is the goal. After the Marlins and Giants, the D-Backs fly to Oakland to take on the A’s. If you have not heard by now, the A’s are historically bad, historically.

D-Backs Against Contenders

After the before mentioned series against teams under .500, the D-Backs run into a few contenders. They just need to handle business against the teams they are suppose to beat and allow themselves to go toe to toe with some of the playoff teams around the league.

They will face off against the Pirates on May 19th kicking off a tough last 12 days of the month. After the Pirates, the D-Backs will fly to Philadelphia to play the Phillies before hosting the Boston Red Sox.

Three teams who can easily be playoff teams come October. The Diamondbacks can get hot the first 18 days of the month and get some momentum going into the last stretch of the month.

One thing Arizona can do over the next 10 days is figure out some of the bullpen problems that have been plaguing late innings.
